The Research Council of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka organized a workshop on “The Philosophical Foundations of Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences”, which was held on 23 September 2026.

The workshop was conducted with the resource contribution of Emeritus Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda, a renowned academic and scholar in the field of social sciences. The programme focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the philosophical foundations of research, research thinking, and the underlying principles and approaches relevant to research in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The programme was organized as part of the Research Council’s continuing efforts to strengthen research capacity, promote scholarly inquiry, and foster a deeper understanding of research methodologies and philosophical perspectives among the academic community.
