Final Competition of the “Preaching the Dhamma in English” Programme – 2025
The Final Competition of the “Preaching the Dhamma in English” Programme – 2025, proudly organized by the Department of English of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, was held on 3rd April 2025, at the Library Auditorium of the university, from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Most Venerable Vice Chancellor, the Deans of the Faculties of Language Studies and Buddhist Studies, along with distinguished members of the academic staff. The panel of judges comprised Ven. Galle Dhamminda Thero, Senior Lecturer, Department of Buddhist and Pali Studies at the Bhiksu University of Sri Lanka, and Ven. Kosgama Dhammadassana Thero, an educator in English and a proud alumnus of our university.
A total of thirty-four contestants participated in the competition, showcasing their skills in preaching the Dhamma in English. This event marked the culmination of the “Preaching the Dhamma in English” Programme conducted by the Department of English, which included a series of guest lectures and practical sessions designed to train first-year undergraduates pursuing their degrees in the English medium.
This programme is well aligned with the core mission of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, to nurture young scholars capable of disseminating the Dhamma across the globe.
