Educational Qualifications
For Local Students
- Should have passed Prachina Prarambha.
or
- Should have passed three subjects at the Advanced Level examination in any subject stream and obtained a minimum of 30 marks in the Common General Test. (Passing the Advanced Level examination with a Buddhist subject, or with one of the subjects such as Pali, Sanskrit, Sinhala, or History, will be considered a special qualification.)
or
- Should have obtained a degree from a recognized university (local or international) or possess any other qualification accepted by the senate of this university as equivalent to the above.
or
- Should have passed Higher Diploma in Buddhism / Pali / Sanskrit / English / Tamil / Buddhist Heritage conducted by the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
or
- Should have passed the Daham Sarasaviya Diploma in Buddhism conducted by the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka or University of Sri Jayewardenepura and gained teaching experience at a Dhamma School.
Or
- Should have at least two years of permanent teaching experience as a school teacher or a Pirivena teacher (With basic qualifications)
Or
- Should have passed any other examination that the Senate of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka considers equivalent to the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination.
For Foreign Students
- Should have obtained one of the above qualifications specified under 1-7 for local students.
or
- Must have passed the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the University of London or hold any other equivalent qualifications accepted by the Senate of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
Note:
- All local applicants must pass the final examination or the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) examination with six subjects, including Sinhala or Tamil, and achieve at least three distinctions.
