RASOGHAYA 2026: A Celebration of Music, and Critical Thinking

With the aim of enhancing students’ soft skills, aesthetic appreciation, and critical thinking abilities, the Department of Sinhala Studies of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka successfully organized “RASOGHAYA – A Musical Appreciation and Critique Programme” on 09 September 2026 at the University Auditorium.

The programme was held in a vibrant and memorable atmosphere, bringing together the beauty of music and the intellectual engagement of critical appreciation. Renowned artists Ms.Senani Panchamadhuri, Mr.Akila Denipitiya, and Ms.Manora Mallawaarachchi enriched the event with their captivating vocal performances.

The musical appreciation and critical analysis of the selected songs were conducted by members of the academic staff of the Department of Sinhala Studies, providing students with an opportunity to explore music from both artistic and analytical perspectives.

The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Venerable members of the Maha Sangha, academic staff, and a large gathering of university students.

“RASOGHAYA 2026” served as a meaningful platform for nurturing students’ aesthetic sensitivity, communication skills, creative thinking, and appreciation of Sri Lankan musical heritage, while creating an engaging space for learning beyond the conventional classroom.
