25th Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Preliminary Round – 2026

The 25th Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Preliminary Round was organized in April by the Confucius Institute at the University of Colombo.

For the first time, students studying the Chinese language at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka also participated in this competition, and the preliminary round was held at the university on April 9. The competition consisted of two sections: speech and talent performance. Students studying Chinese from the first year to the third year participated enthusiastically in the event.

Teachers from the Confucius Institute at the University of Colombo attended as judges for the competition. Based on the final results of both the speech and talent show segments, third-year student Yohan Sanuka was selected to participate in the grand final competition, which will be held at Port City Colombo on June 1.

Students studying Chinese at state universities across Sri Lanka will participate in the final competition, representing their respective universities. Therefore, it is a great achievement and a valuable opportunity for our university to be represented in the final round for the first time.
