VOICE OF THE DHAMMA 2026
Training Programme for Buddhist Monks and Nuns to Preach the Dhamma in English
The Voice of the Dhamma 2026 is a training programme organised by the Department of English, Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, designed to equip young Buddhist monks and nuns with the English language and communication skills needed to effectively disseminate the Dhamma to diverse audiences.
The programme is open to local and foreign Buddhist monks and nuns aged 20–35 who are studying at higher education institutions, Colleges of Education, or Teacher Training Institutes in Sri Lanka, as internal or external students.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
PHASE I – ONLINE TRAINING
Three interactive online training sessions will be conducted via Zoom.

Purpose, Audience, and Universal Relevance

Lecture 02
COMMUNICATING THE DHAMMA EFFECTIVELY
Language, Structure, and Delivery

Lecture 03
FROM DHAMMA TO DESANĀ
Preparing and Delivering Effective Dhamma Sermons in English
PHASE II – FINAL COMPETITION
Selected participants will demonstrate their skills by delivering Dhamma sermons in English at an onsite final competition to be held at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka in mid-October 2026.
An independent panel of judges will select three outstanding Dhamma preachers.
Final Competition Date: The date of the final competition will be announced during the online training sessions.
IMPORTANT: Winners of previous years are not eligible to participate in the final competition.
