Tenth Series - “Preaching the Dhamma in English”
First Session of the Tenth Series
The first session of the tenth series of the “Preaching the Dhamma in English” programme was successfully held on 13th August 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, for the first-year English Medium students. The session was graced by the presence of Ven. Akuresse Saddhammananda Thero, a meditation practitioner and Dhamma preacher, who delivered an enlightening talk on the topic, “Embracing the Path to Contentment: The Journey to Happiness with the Dhamma and the Importance of English Proficiency for Buddhist Scholars.”
Second Session of the Tenth Series
The Department of English at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka successfully conducted the second session of the tenth series of its “Preaching the Dhamma in English” programme on 29th August 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, for first-year English medium students. The session featured a lecture by Ven. Prof. Gonadeniye Pannarathana Thero from the Department of Pali, titled “Introduction to Buddhist Terminology in English and Their Usage,” which provided foundational knowledge on key Buddhist terms in English, alongside practical insights into their contextual application.
