Assumption of Duties by Senior Lecturer Ven. Ilukewela Dhammarathana as the Dean of Faculty of Buddhist Studies
Ven. Ilukewela Dhammarathana Thero, who was elected as the 7th Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka is the first alumnus of the university to hold this post.
Having entered the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka as an undergraduate in the academic year of 2003, he graduated in 2006 with a First Class Honours in Buddhist Philosophy (special degree) and then he obtained the Degree of Master of Arts (one year) (2006-2007) and the Degree of Master of Philosophy (2013) from the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya.
He joined the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka as a Temporary Lecturer in 2008 and he was recruited as a Probationary Lecturer in 2012. Then he was promoted to the posts of Lecturer in 2015 and Senior Lecturer in 2017.
Having been the Head of the Department of Buddhist Philosophy from May, 2018, he will be holding the post of the Dean of the Faculty of Buddhist Studies for a period of three years from 3 May 2021.
බෞද්ධ අධ්යයන පීඨයේ අභිනව පීඨාධිපති ලෙස තේරී පත් වූ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය පූජ්ය ඉලුකේවෙල ධම්මරතන හිමියෝ වැඩ භාර ගනිති .
ශ්රී ලංකා බෞද්ධ හා පාලි විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ බෞද්ධ අධ්යයන පීඨයේ 7 වන පීඨාධිපති ලෙස තේරී පත් වූ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය පූජ්ය ඉලුකේවෙල ධම්මරතන ස්වාමීණ්ද්රයන් වහන්සේ එම තනතුර සඳහා තේරී පත් වූ ප්රථම ආදිවිද්යාර්ථියා ය.
2003 අධ්යයන වර්ෂයේ දී ශ්රී ලංකා බෞද්ධ හා පාලි විශ්වවිද්යාලයට විද්යාර්ථියෙකු ලෙස ඇතුලත් වූ උන්වහන්සේ 2006 අධ්යයන වර්ෂයේ දී පලමු පන්ති සාමර්ථ්යයක් සහිත ව බෞද්ධ දර්ශනය පිළිබද ශාස්ත්රවේදී (විශේෂ) උපාධිය ද ඉන් අනතුරුව කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ පාලි හා බෞද්ධ අධ්යයන පශ්චාද් උපාධි ආයතනයෙන් 2006-2007 අධ්යයන වර්ෂයේ දී එක් අවුරුදු ශාස්ත්රපති උපාධිය ද 2013 වර්ෂයේ දී දර්ශනපති උපාධිය ද ලබා ඇත.
තාවකාලික කථිකාචාර්ය වරයෙකු ලෙස වර්ෂ 2008 ක් වූ ජනවාරි මස ශ්රී ලංකා බෞද්ධ හා පාලි විශ්වවිද්යාලයෙහි සේවයට බැඳුණු උන්වහන්සේ වර්ෂ 2012 ක් වූ ජනවාරි මස ආධුනික කථිකාචාර්ය තනතුර සඳහා තේරී පත් විය. ඉන් අනතුරුව වර්ෂ 2015 ක් වූ ජනවාරි මස දෙවන දා කථිකාචාර්ය තනතුරෙහි ද වර්ෂ 2017 ක් වූ ජනවාරි මස ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය තනතුරෙහි ද පිහිටුවන ලදී.
වර්ෂ 2018 ක් වූ මැයි මස අටවන දින සිට බෞද්ධ දර්ශනය අධ්යයනාංශයේ අංශාධිපති ලෙස සේවය කළ උන්වහන්සේ 2021 මැයි මස තුන්වන දින සිට වසර තුනක කාලයක් සඳහා බෞද්ධ අධ්යයන පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති ලෙස කටයුතු කරයි.
