A Special Lecture on The Significance of Learning New Languages in Modern Universal Society and Its Learning Techniques
A special lecture titled "The Significance of Learning New Languages in Modern Universal Society and Its Learning Techniques" was hosted by the Department of Language Skills Development on August 2nd, 2023. The guest speaker for the event was Ven. Deniyaye Pannaloka Buddharakkhitha Thero, Senior Lecturer in Pali at the University of Kelaniya. A substantial number of students participated in the lecture, which comprehensively explored the importance and advantages of acquiring a language beyond their native language.
During the lecture, Ven. Pannaloka presented numerous instances demonstrating how individuals have accomplished challenging endeavors in life by leveraging their language proficiency. Additionally, he shared several effective approaches to mastering a new language, which inspired many students to consider learning a language in addition to their native tongue.
