The Significance of Learning the Hindi Language: A Guest Lecture by Prof. Mukesh Mishra
A special lecture on "The Significance of Learning Hindi" was held in celebration of National Hindi Day in India. The lecture was conducted by Professor Mukesh Kumar Mishra on September 12, 2023, at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka. Professor Mukesh Kumar Mishra is a faculty member at Siddharth University in Gorakhpur, India.
During the lecture, the rich cultural heritage and historical importance of the Hindi language were illuminated, with an emphasis on its role not only within India but also on the global stage. Students in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of learning Hindi language participated in this special event, and the gathering was welcomed by Senior Lecturer Dr. Nirosha Salwathura.
Comparing Japanese and Sinhala Grammar Patterns: A Guest Lecture by Prof. Tetsuya Miyagishi
On the 14th of September 2023, Professor Tetsuya Miyagishi, representing Yasuda Women’s University in Japan, delivered a lecture titled "Comparing Japanese and Sinhala Grammar Patterns" at the Buddhist and Pali University. This lecture was designed to cater to students in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years who are studying Japanese as a main subject.
Professor Miyagishi had the opportunity to meet Ven. Prof. Neluwe Sumanawasa Thero, the Vice Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University, Dr. Swarnanda Gamage, the Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Dr. Indiwaree Wickramasinghe, the Head of the Department of Language Skills Development and shared his enthusiasm for conducting more guest lectures at the Buddhist and Pali University in the future. Furthermore, he extended an invitation to explore the possibility of organizing student exchange programs between Japan and the Buddhist and Pali University. This gesture of international cooperation and academic exchange holds great promise for fostering cross-cultural understanding and enriching the educational experiences of both Japanese and Sinhala language students.
